“有钱的给你物质 有时间的给你陪伴 有情调的给你浪漫 可这些或许都不是爱情
真正的爱情应该是 花心的为你专一 爱玩的为你安定 性急的为你等待 爱逃避的为你坚持 骄傲的为你低头
因为你去尝试不擅长的事 为了你想去成为一个更好的人 这才是爱情最真实的样子”

I am thankful for SY.

He has done so much for me, for us, the past 1 year. For a guy like him, it is really a lot for him to actually put in effort to plan & surprise me every now & then. Just so you know, I am actually the first girl that he actually bought flowers for, lol. He would do all he could, to pamper me & make me feel love, just to see that smile on my face.

Then I thought, besides the daily doses of love, this man definitely deserve to be pampered a little bit more.
So.. I surprised SY with a short get-away trip to BKK on his birthday.

To be very honest, it wasn’t easy & it was really a lot of work to plan a trip for him. I love a trip packed with activities, while he enjoys an agenda-less trip. I was literally struggling to plan a trip that has no agenda, but memorable. Ugh. However, it’s worth it!

I absolutely love how he felt pampered, when he figured out every little details I put in for this trip.

STAYS:

We were at Bangkok for 2 nights; & we stayed at 2 different hotels.

#1 The Continent Hotel Bangkok by Compass Hospitality, located in the Heart of Sukhumvit.

413 Sukhumvit Road,Klongtoey Nua,
Wattana, Bangkok 10110.
[next to the BTS sky train at Asok station and the Sukhumvit MRT station] Tel: +66 2 686 7000

I chose this hotel mostly because it has this floor to ceiling windows throughout half of the room, that promises a spectacular paranomic view of the vibrant Bangkok city. It is the kind of stay I have been wishing for all these while, the kind of stay where I wouldn’t mind staying in the entire night.

This is the perfect place to stay in you’re a sunset person like me.

Evening, when the sun begins to set. We quietly sit by the windows, & witnessed how skill-fully the sun dyed the sky in to a gorgeous pomegranate pink; then slowly dipped below the horizon.

We both were awed, by how living the sky was.

The view from the bath, during the night.

We loves continent hotel, besides its’ magnificent view from room, it is spacious, clean & comfortable! We wish to stay longer, but we were only there for a night as I remembered, one of those random day while we were discussing about holidays & trips.
He said, “we should check out the W Hotel.”

#2 well, W Hotel, it is. (:

106 North Sathorn Road, Silom,
Bangrak, Bang Rak, Bangkok.
Phone: +66 2 344 4000

We were welcomed with playing music & this signature insta-worthy giant W sign.

Our tastefully designed room;
Also, with large bay windows overlooking the city. I am such sucker for city lights.

However, this is definitely not your ordinary kind of 5-stars hotel.
It gives you that kind of fun, young, dynamic vibes, without losing the luxurious touch of it.

With the all the WOW-moments ever since we stepped in to the hotel, I knew this place has everything SY loves;
As for me, looking at how excited he is, is all that matters.

The golden sequinned Thai boxing gloves, that immediately became our photo props. Haha.

My fav. part of the room has to be this free-standing bath tube that’s separated by a colourful glass wall. I am amazed that W hotel actually provides you with a full range of bathroom necessities, from facial scrubs to bubble bath shower gel.

Enjoyed a good soak with great music playing at the back, perfect after a long day of shopping!

Finally, the much raved about W Hotel pool. It is gloriously equipped with underwater speakers.
SY enjoys swimming as much as he enjoys music, this is indeed a heaven for him.

Unfortunately, it started raining after awhile, & we were force to leave.
Else, I am pretty sure SY will be staying in the pool for hours.

That was the two hotels we stayed during our 3D2N trip to BKK.

But, talking about making memories, I thought we need something quirky & fun!
I booked a room in Sook Station, to experience how it is being a prisoner.

45-49 Soi Sukhumvit 101/2, Khwaeng Bang Na, Khet Bang Na,
Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10260, Thailand.
Phone: +66 86 332 0555

It is quite obvious that I had lot of fun, unfortunately SY didn’t enjoyed it as much.
He said, “好好一個人,幹嘛要做囚犯,坐監牢。” Hahaha.

Managed to take some interesting photos at Sook Station with the provided prisoner’s costume, mostly with only me in the photo because SY is not willing to wear the costumes. Bahhhh.

He explained, “比起拍我自己,我比較喜歡拍你,因為你有美照就會開心;那我也會很開心。”
In my heart I was thinking, “其實你不就是嫌棄這囚犯衣不夠帥嘛。” Hahaha.

Photography credits to my very talented Instagram-boyfriend, SY.

I demanded for a photo together with SY, and here it is.
We were actually surprised that it turns out to be such a good photo, one of our best photo thus far!

If you are curious, we used an Olympus OMD EM1M2 camera with self timer, a chair (& nothing else) to get this photo.

EATS:

Definition of a chill trip: SLEEP, EAT, SHOP, REPEAT.
Bangkok is a food heaven, & we both loves Thai food.

Here’s some of the food places that we think it’s worth trying out!

– Toby’s on Sukhumvit 38

75 Sukhumvit 38 Alley, Khwaeng Phra Khanong,
Khet Khlong Toei, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10110, Thailand
Tel: +66 2 712 1774

This insta-worthy cafe is said to be the Bangkok’s best brunch spot, also the first stop for our trip!
Upon stepping in to the cafe, the clean, white & sun drenched setting caught my heart. It feels like Aussie.

So, I heard they are good for their French toast, fresh juices, coffee, and… the salted caramel milk tea.

Ordered almost all the starred items from the breakfast menu, and I am amazed that none was bad. Among all, my fav. has to be the fairy floss French toast; crispy at the outside, fluffy on the inside, paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream & candy floss, H E A V E N L Y.

– Thip Samai

313-315 Maha Chai Rd, Khwaeng Samran Rat,
Khet Phra Nakhon, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10200, Thailand
Hours: 5PM–2AM
Tel: +66 2 226 6666

I have always been a big fan for Pad Thai! & I have been dying to try this Thip Samai that everyone raved about, one of the most famous Pad Thai restaurants in Bangkok, also said to be the world’s best PadThai.

Got there about 6.30pm, the queue was insane, we waited for 45mins to be seated.

There’s two type of padthai, one is the usual padthai, another one is wrapped in egg.
I felt both are equally good.

My verdict?
It’s delicious, worth trying if you have extra time;
However, IMO there’s a lot of padthai in BKK that’s equally good.

– Bahao

8, Khwaeng Pom Prap, Khet Pom Prap Sattru Phai,
Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10100, Thailand
Tel: +66 81 454 4959

“Bring back Bangkok’s Chinatown to the 70’s”.
Bahao, is a highly recommended old days Chinese styled bar located at the ChinaTown.

Flipped through their menu, (literally) skipped all the beers & ciders & went straight to the cocktails menu that was designed by Bangkok’s best mixologists. They only serve 7 types of cocktails, but all looks equally interesting.

– Opium 鴉片
– Five Rivers 五條河流
– Forbidden Gold 禁金
– Harbin 哈尔滨
– Mandarin Tonic 橙子杜松子酒
– The Mistress 情婦
– Red Pagoda 紅塔

In the end, I chose – Opium 鴉片, a negroni based cocktail, mixed with ginseng & herbs/
It really tastes a lot like Chinese herbal tea. Besides, it’s really strong (but surprisingly easy to drink).

These cocktails are as good as the ambiance.
Indeed a good spot to chill; Both SY & I truly enjoyed this place.

– (Un)fashion Cafe

3, 10 Soi Sukhumvit 63, Khlong Tan Nuea,
Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
Tel: +66 2 726 9592

We were very fascinated with the pretty little details of this vintage cafe, the interior & exterior are carefully designed.

The homey vibes & chilling music made it a perfect stop to wind down after a long day.
We ordered their signature lemon tart, & cup of coffee. The lemon tart is so good that I am actually missing it already.

I look over at you, & see sunshine. (:
Thank you, for being my sunshine.

– Woo Bar

106, W Bangkok Sathon Nuea Rd, Silom,
Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand
Tel: +66 2 344 4131

This is chic bar in glitzy purple decors is W hotel’s very own bar.

There’s free-flow sparkling wine at Woobar, every Friday from 7.30pm – 9.30pm.
We were a little late for the free flow hence we went for the Signature W cocktails instead.

No regrets, because it’s probably the best cocktails we had.

I ordered the highly recommended “Forever Pink”.

The light & easy to drink vodka based cocktail with apple & peach flavour, topped with a lovely pink cotton candy is the bomb! I fell in love at the first sight, and deeper in love after the first sip, haha!

Ahhh, this is so my kind of drink!

SY’s like a real man.
The bartender jokingly said, this is only for the real gentleman. Haha.

We loves everything here, the service, the drinks & the ambiance.
Secretly hoping there’s such a bar in KL too.

– Demi Concept

Located right in front of the Platinum mall entrance.

This black-charcoal vanilla ice cream is Insta-worthy, haha.

It’s tastes pretty good too, but I was literally struggling to finish this by myself.
This huge ice cream is good for sharing!

– Sabx2

4/32-33 Prechburi 19,
Prechburi Road Phayathai Ratchathavee Bangkok 10500, Thailand
Tel: +66 2 653 9618

Both SY & myself are real wantanmee fan! They said this noodle stall located across the Platinum Mall has the best wantanmee. If that’s the case, we will need to give it a try.

We went quite late in the afternoon hence there’s no huge crowd (as mentioned online), ordered a bowl of wantanmee with super high expectations.

Sadly, I was disappointed (SY thinks it’s okayyy though). It’s pretty normal & surely doesn’t deserve the hype. Still, this is just IMO. You can give in a try if you’re around Pratunam or platinum mall. (:

– Fishcake in Pratunam Market

One of the best (& spiciest fish cakes) we had, enough said.

– Street Food – talad neon

1087 New Petchaburi Rd, Khwaeng Makkasan,
Khet Ratchathewi, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10400, Thailand.

Since it was a rather short trip, we didn’t manage to go for an adventurous street food hunt. Settled our street food crave in Talad neon, a Bangkok’s new downtown night market. We were spoiled with choices. There’s a lot of interesting food that we wish to try but it begins to rain after our second stop, will definitely visit this place again when I am back to BKK.

Thai seafood, nothing extremely good to shoutout about.
But, nothing was bad, we were pretty satisfied with the meal.

Dessert time!

Instead of mango sticky rice, we had durian sticky rice.
It was unexpectedly good! Two thumbs up!

– Go Ang chicken rice

So this is the highly raved Pratunam famous chicken rice shop.
My first time eating chicken rice in BKK after several visits.

The Juicy steamed chicken served over the aromatic fragrant oil rice with their specialty sauce, it’s real delicious. I mean really delicious. So good that I didn’t even take photo of it, was too busy eating, but SY did recorded a few scenes in this place, check out the video below. :)

– Somtum Der

5/5 Saladaeng Rd, Khwaeng Silom, Khet Bang Rak,
Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10500, Thailand.
Tel: +66 2 632 4499

You can never visit Bangkok & not eat Somtum!
This is the last stop for our trip, for their famous Somtum!

The waitress strongly recommended the the Somtum Poo Pla Ra, a papaya salad with salted crab and fermented fish.
It was flavoursome, sour & spicy, just how we like it!

Perfect with a pint of Thai beer.

DO’S:

Bangkok, it’s truly all about sleep, eat, shop & massage.

We’ve shopped at the usual shopping spots like the Pratunam, Platinum mall, etc.
These place were all same ol’ good.

For massage, any massage parlour is good (just remember to check on the price before entering).

Do check out this video that pretty much summarised what we did this entire trip!

Thank you for watching & reading.
Stay tune, for my next travel post. :D
