For the past 16 years, I haven’t had a completely cramp-free period.
My cramps are bad, even on days when they’re least painful, the discomfort still made me downright miserable. And worse, most of the time they lasted for a friggin full 7 days, with constant cramps which sometimes they got so bad that I actually passed out.
During my school days, my mom had to picked me up from school because I fainted from period cramps. Then, I started to take sick leave whenever I am on period with cripplingly bad cramps. Same applied when I was in university.
I took leave a little too often that some started questioning…
“Are cramps really that bad? How bad can it be?”
Let me tell you, it’s AWFUL.
It felt like someone stabbed my lower belly with a knife, and twisting the knife around. Yes, you can certainly imagine me rolling on my bed (sometimes on the floor), crying and yelling in pain. AND… this last for few hours. It’s so bad that I am pretty much bed ridden, but, with not even one position that is able to alleviate the pain. I just kept rolling around in pain.
I would say I have pretty high pain tolerance, I can tolerate even Brazilian IPL (yes!) but not period cramps. You know it’s really bad when you need to skip a supposed date night that you have been looking forward to because of the cramps. At one point of my life, I am heavily dependent on painkillers. If my mom agreed that I need to resort to painkillers, you know I am getting it really bad.
Along the year, I tried treating the pain with any possible ways as I try to avoid pain killers as much as I can. & the only thing that works is… EXERCISING frequently. Exercising really does help to relieve pain. But, ughhh, exercise may be last on my list when I have period cramps.
Lately, I have been treating it with heat theraphy.
It all started with mom putting hot towel on my belly, which gave me the lovely bit of comfort, it felt.. really good! I fell asleep with it eventually, and woke up feeling so much better. Then I started replacing it with hot-water bottle or heating pad filled with hot water.
The only downside is I struggled when I needed it during work, travel, etc. I can’t be bringing it with me, and it’s such a hassle to go around looking for boiling water when I am already in pain. Like it or not, menstrual cramps often catch us at the most inconvenient time.
Hence…. I AM EXTREMELY EXCITED WHEN I DISCOVER AMMELTZ YOKO YOKO HEAT PATCH FOR MENSTRUAL PAIN.
